Hi everyone,
I had hoped to send this around much earlier but the fall season was a busy one between work and soccer so just getting things wrapped up now from the summer season.

The next order of business will be the club Annual General Meeting which will be held at Mill River Resort on Monday, November 17 at 6:00 pm. Any and all members of the soccer club are welcome to attend
YEAR END REVIEW FOR 2025
I just wanted to take a few minutes and share a recap of what was a fantastic summer of soccer for 2025. This was easily the most successful summer that we have ever had with regards to results as a club and it proves that the future is very bright. While there are definitely some areas that we need to improve upon, we do believe the building blocks are in place to continue to grow for years to come.
This past summer saw many of our competitive teams walk away with medals and impressive results, to recap:
Senior women’s division 2 team won gold in the Provincial championships
Senior women’s division 3 team won gold in the Provincial championships
Senior men’s division 2 team lost in the semi-finals in the Provincial championships
Under 18 girls premier team won gold in the Provincial championships
Under 18 girls first division team won silver in the Provincial championships
Under 13 boys first division team won gold in the Provincial championships
Under 13 girls first division team won silver in the Provincial championships
As well, the club had 2 boys and 2 girls teams at the Under 11 competitive age level and while these teams do not have a Provincial championship to play for, their results were no less impressive:
Under 11 girls division 3 team won gold at the RC United kick-off and Sherwood wrap-up tournaments
Under 11 girls division 2 team made it to the semi-finals of the Central Queen’s tournament and Sherwood tournament
Under 11 boys division 2 team won gold at the Central Queen’s tournament
Under 11 boys division 3 team made it to the semi-finals of the Sherwood tournament
A huge congratulations to all players and coaches and a huge thank you to the parents who helped make it happen.
With the community soccer program there were some things that went well and some things that we need to address for next year.
The Under 5 programs at Bloomfield and Hernewood were successful and had great numbers. Unfortunately, we made the decision a little late on running the Hernewood program and therefore missed the deadline for the jerseys/medals from the Tim Horton’s program but will look to rectify that in 2026.
The Under 7 program had decent numbers but we definitely struggled with trying to get jamborees in place to give the kids chances to play as it seemed every time we picked a date something would go wrong - whether that be the weather and extreme heat, other events in some communities on the same date, etc.. This age group has to be one of the main focus areas for 2026 and with that in mind, we have made the decision to approach the under 7 program the same as we have done with the under 9 community program. Therefore in 2026 the plan is to have teams set up in each community and they will train once a week in that community. They will however come to Hernewood every Wednesday night and play a scheduled “league” game vs. other community teams so that the kids get a chance to play regularly. The teams will be co-ed for the under 7 age group and this will hopefully help in giving every child a chance to play.
The community under 9 program went very well again in 2025 with 6 boys teams and 6 girls teams playing against each other. The teams played an 8 game season and practiced in their home community every week. We do not foresee any changes to this program in 2026 and their game night will likely remain on Thursday nights.
With regards to the under 11 age group, unfortunately the last two summers have not seen enough players register to create a community league so we would like to get the word out now that for 2026, anyone who is thinking of playing under 11 should really plan to attend the under 11 tryouts for our teams that play in the Island wide leagues. PEI Soccer usually has an east-west split so most times you would never go past Charlottetown. Your home games would be at Hernewood with some away games in Summerside/Kensington/etc.. and then possibly a couple of away games in Charlottetown. The teams play an average of a game a week to go along with a practice per week so it is not a huge time commitment. Most teams enter a tournament as well but again there are no provincial playdowns for the under 11 age group across PEI.
While we were happy with the 2025 season overall, again we do know that there are always going to be things to improve upon. To that point, you will see below a link that will take you to a survey where you are welcome to send along any thoughts, concerns, suggestions, etc.. and we will be happy to consider everything as we plan for the 2026 season.

We want to really continue to build our club as we go forward, especially at the under 7, under 9 and under 11 age group as that is the future of the club. Last year we had some “come out and try soccer” sessions for the younger age groups with some guest coaches from Charlottetown in April before the season really got going and we are definitely planning to do something like that again.
WINTER PLANS FOR 2025/2026
As well though we are planning to offer some indoor soccer options to the players who played in the under 9 and under 11 age groups this past summer (anyone born in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017). There are going to be two different options and yes, players are more than welcome to come to both options.
Indoor soccer league for under 9/under 11 boys and under 9/under 11 girls - Hernewood - Wednesday nights beginning on November 26:
We are hoping to get enough players to register that we could make at least 3 small teams of girls and 3 small teams of boys from the combined under 9 and under 11 age groups from this past summer as well as anyone new who would like to register and try it. To do so we would need approximately 27-30 girls to register and 27-30 boys to register. If that was to happen, we would create 3 teams out of the player lists for each and the teams would play each other in a small league. The games would take in the gym at Hernewood at 7:00 pm every Wednesday and the schedule would go something like:
Week 1 - team 1 vs. team 2 - girls at 7:00 pm, boys at 7:45 pm
Week 2 - team 1 vs. team 3 - girls at 7:00 pm, boys at 7:45 pm
Week 3 - team 2 vs. team 3 - girls at 7:00 pm, boys at 7:45 pm
After week 3 we would start again and try to get everyone 6 games and then do a little playoff as well. The cost would be minimal, ie: $25 per player, just to help with the cost of the referees for the game as well as some gear. We will send another email tomorrow to let everyone know how to register for this. If we get enough players then we will get things set up, if we don’t get enough players then we will pivot to something else.
Open training at O’Leary Elementary after Christmas - Under 11 girls & boys - Tuesday nights
As well, we would offer an open training session after Christmas at O’Leary school with the Under 11 girls going from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and the Under 11 boys going from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. If we see that the numbers are light then we could open it up to include under 9 as well. There would be no fees to take part in this training and this would go for January and February.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you have any questions at all about the upcoming training/league or any questions in general, please don’t hesitate to contact me at allainbrian@hotmail.com
Sincerely,
Brian Allain
